MARION COUNTY, FL – One man died and another was hospitalized when a car and pickup truck collided on U.S. 441 near Ocala on Friday afternoon.
Ocala Star-Banner reports that the crash happened around 1:39 p.m. about one mile south of the U.S. 441/301 split.
Police say the driver of a northbound Ford Mustang veered into southbound traffic because he could not stop in time for the cars that had slowed ahead of him. A southbound Ford F-150 pickup truck then collided with the Mustang.
The driver of the Mustang died at the scene of the accident.
The driver of the pickup truck became entrapped in the vehicle. Marion County Fire Rescue officials worked for 10 minutes to extract the pickup truck driver, who was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries.
The crash remains under investigation.
