4 car crash leaves 1 killed, 1 injured in Leesburg

LEESBURG, FL- A man was killed in a four car crash on Monday on County Road 44, ClickOrlando reports.

At 7:14a.m., a 2003 Chevrolet Silverado, a 2004 Toyota Corolla, a 2021 semitrailer and a 2015 Mitsubishi Mirage were all involved in an incident that began when the Chevrolet crashed into the Toyota.

The Toyota had slowed down to turn left when it was struck by the Chevrolet.

The Toyota, who’s 42 year-old driver was the fatality, was forced onto the southbound lanes from the impact of the first hit. It was then hit by the semitrailer on the right side and was subsequently pushed back into the northbound lanes.

Behind the original Chevrolet vehicle had been the Mitsubishi who avoided the collision up until the Toyota came back into the northbound lanes. The front left of both the Mitsubishi and the Toyota were then hit.

The 23 year-old female driver of the Mitsubishi had some small injuries and was hospitalized.

The male drivers of the Chevrolet and semitruck had no injuries and stayed at the site of the incident.

Gustavo Martinez Cortez, driver of the Chevrolet, did not have his license and went to Lake County Jail.
