Panama City (FL) – Two people died and two others were injured when a speeding sports car rear-ended another vehicle on John Pitts Road Tuesday night, reports WDHN.
Police say the accident happened around 8:40pm near the intersection of Pinetree Road when a Dodge Challenger, driven by a 23-year-old man from Tennessee, hit a Buick from behind, forcing both cars off the main road. The Buick then collided with a power pole, and the Challenger caught fire.
The driver of the Buick, a 57-year-old woman, died in the accident, as did her 73-year-old passenger. A third passenger in the Buick, a 9-year-old child, sustained minor injuries. The driver of the Challenger also sustained minor injuries.
Law enforcement continues to investigate the incident.
