Bicyclist dead after being run over by teen driver in Pasco County

ZEPHYRHILLS, FL (PASCO COUNTY) – A 24-year-old man was killed after being struck by a teenage driver in Pasco County last night, according to information from WFLA News.

The collision happened in Zephyrhills at around 9 p.m. on Wire Road near Otis Allen Road, as two bicyclists were headed northbound. One of the bicyclists, a 24-year-old man from Zephyrhills, was then struck by a 17-year-old driver approaching them from behind.

The other bicyclist, identified as a 20-year-old man from Zephyrhills, was not hit in the collision.

The victim was taken to the hospital, where he later was pronounced dead.

The driver, a girl from Dade City, was not injured in the collision. She reportedly was unable to see the bicyclists before the crash occurred.

The area where the accident happened does not have a bike lane.
