Narrative
PUNTA GORDA, FL – A two-vehicle collision at a busy intersection just east of Charlotte Harbor Preserve State Park killed one person and injured another on Friday.
The crash occurred around 1:38 p.m. on the northbound side of Burnt Store Road at Notre Dame Boulevard.
Police say a northbound sedan struck the side of a southbound car when the latter vehicle made a left turn onto Notre Dame Boulevard. The force of the collision caused the first vehicle to overturn.
Medics transported the driver of the first vehicle to the hospital with serious injuries.
The 70-year-old driver of the second vehicle died at the scene from injuries sustained when he was thrown for his car during the accident. Authorities have not yet released his name to the public.
A full investigation is underway.
