PORT CHARLOTTE, FL – A 59-year-old bicyclist was seriously injured after colliding with an SUV in Port Charlotte on Saturday night, Fox 4 reports.
State police say the accident happened around 9 p.m. at the intersection of US-41 and Cochran Boulevard as the cyclist attempted to cross onto Cochran. At the same time, the 27-year-old male driver of an SUV attempted to turn from the northbound side of US-41 onto Cochran. The front left side of the SUV struck the bicyclist.
Officials say that the bicyclist was transported to a local hospital where he is in critical condition.
An investigation of the incident is ongoing.
