Five killed in wrong-way crash on SR 826 in Miami-Dade County

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, FL – Five lives were claimed in a wrong-way crash Saturday morning on State Road 826, according to CNN

A driver was speeding at a high rate and driving on the wrong side of the road for about a mile before colliding head-on with another car. 

The wrong-way driver was identified as 30-year-old Maiky Simeon. 

Simeon suffered life-threatening injuries and was transported to Ryder Trauma Center. 

Simeon was charged with multiple counts of vehicular homicide. He remains at the hospital and will go to jail once released. 

It is unknown if impairment was a contributing factor in the crash. 

The five victims succumbed to their injuries and died. Their names have not been released, but they were identified as young adults – one man and four women – between the ages of 18 and 25.
