LONGWOOD, FL – A pedestrian was hospitalized after being hit by a car while crossing the road at the intersection of Florida Avenue & northbound North 17-92 Highway around 7:15 a.m. Tuesday. The pedestrian, a 50-year-old man, did not use the crosswalk when he was struck by a silver Ford Sedan traveling north near Orange Avenue. The pedestrian was transported by helicopter to Orlando Regional Medical Center for life-threatening injuries. North 17-92 was closed for several hours, and drivers were advised to use alternate routes. More information will be posted as it becomes available.
