Man dies at hospital from pedestrian crash in Clearwater

CLEARWATER, FL – A man attempted to cross Gulf-to-Bay Boulevard where he was hit by a 2006 Chevrolet Corvette Thursday night, Tampa Bay Times reported.

Clearwater police identified the Chevrolet Corvette driver as 79-year-old Sam G Short of Clearwater.

The pedestrian, James Luzak Jr of St Petersburg, was trying to cross westbound lanes of Gulf-to-Bay, east of US. 19, just before 9 pm, police officers said. Luzak was transported to the Morton Plant Hospital and died.

Clearwater Police have not released additional details.
