Narrative
CHRISTMAS, FL – One person died, and two people were hurt Wednesday in a crash involving a car and a moped in east-central Orange County.
Around 11 p.m., emergency teams responded to a major accident on the westbound side of FL-50 near Taylor Creek Road in the city of Christmas.
Police say that a 2023 Kia K5 rear ended a moped on the highway. The impact of the collision threw both the driver and passenger of the moped from the bike.
The 42-year-old female passenger succumbed to her injuries at the scene. Authorities have not yet released her name to the public.
Medics transported the moped operator to an area hospital with critical injuries.
The driver of the Kia went to the hospital with minor injuries.
It’s unclear if the driver of the Kia will face charges.
A full investigation is underway.
