ZEPHYR HILLS, FL – One passenger died, and two others suffered critical injuries when a car collided with two tractor-trailers on CR-54 in the suburbs of Tampa on Friday, 10 Tampa Bay reports.
State police say the incident occurred Friday afternoon when the 20-year-old driver was headed east on CR-54 and tried to pass a semi-truck near the intersection with Howard Boulevard.
After moving left to pass the truck, the driver noticed another semi approaching from the west and crashed into the front of the first semi while attempting to re-enter the eastbound lane. The car then hit the guardrail before colliding with the second semi-truck.
The two truck drivers did not sustain notable injuries, police say.
A 19-year-old passenger in the sedan was pronounced dead on the scene. The driver and the other passenger of the car were seriously hurt.
