Narrative
FORT PIERCE, FL – Two drivers died Monday from injuries sustained in a wrong-way crash along the interstate in northeastern St. Lucie County.
The incident happened around 4:30 a.m. on the southbound side of I-95 near Indrio Road, which is on the northwest outskirts of Fort Pierce.
Police say that a northbound Nissan entered the southbound side of the interstate and collided with a southbound Honda, killing both drivers. Authorities have not yet released their names.
An 18-wheeler then struck the Honda, at which point both vehicles ignited.
Medics transported the truck driver and a passenger from the Honda to the hospital with undisclosed injuries.
A full investigation is underway.
