Tesla driver, passenger, died after smashing into semi-truck in Gainesville

GAINESVILLE, FL – A man and woman in their 60s were killed after smashing into a semi-truck before 2 pm Wednesday.

WTSP said the collision happened in the Paynes Prairie Rest Area parking lot. The cause of the crash is unknown, but somehow a Tesla collided with the semi-truck.

The Tesla driver was a 66-year-old woman, and the passenger was a 67-year-old man from California. Both were killed at the scene. According to the crash report, it is unknown if the woman was wearing her seatbelt; however, the man was.

The semi-truck driver was a 58-year-old man from Ruskin. It is unclear if the truck driver suffered injuries.
